obama to have andreas schleicher neck dote sold us a lamp and instead now they are saying well look at this great paperweight. >> here is the issue, judy, is that republicans still, 100 years into this debate still haven't offered their plan, speaker boehner today just kind of was flippant yeah we will see if we offer our own plan, yet obama has had problems in the rollout but wha what the plan os in the rollout is far superior to going back to the type of discrimination the insurance companies participated in before, the gender discrimination paying more for healthcare coverage, just because you are a woman, so, you know, they can argue for the status quo, we will argue for the success of obamacare and things will play out next year. >> woodruff: ron, is it enough for republicans to criticize, which they clearly are doing or do they need to come up with an alternative on their own. >> absolutely, republicans were shut out of the process of developing obamacare, and they need to talk about the law, they need to talk about the problems in the law because that that is what it is, yes,

to the trip, and why i was very excited in the summer when president obama spoke so eloquently and so comprehensively about the urgency to act on climate change, when he spoke at georgetown university. it was a speech that i had been hoping for, a president for many years, and i was so proud that it was our president. he showed enormous courage and enormous strength, as well as, he challenged us all to not just acknowledge the science of climate change, to understand that it is real and happening, but to also charge the cabinet to take immediate action. call me biased, but i believe it was his best speeches so far, although he is not done yet, i'm quite sure. he walked through his climate action plan as well, which outlined some common sense, pragmatic steps that the epa and other agencies across the administration are now taking to cut carbon pollution, invest in clean energy, to help our cities and towns build in more resilient ways so that they can add depth to a changing climate and keep our communities safe, but also to prepare to be a broader and more vocal leader on the issue o

obamacare. if they're able to win the senate and hold on to the house, obama will be a very lame duck for his last two years in office. let's bring in juan williams, our fox news political analyst. the first question for you juan, what do you think about his op-ed there? >> i think that is on target, jon. i mean look, right now as doyle points out, republicans have focused on obamacare. they have 80 plus percent of republicans unified behind opposition to obamacare. as you know, there are a lots of disputes within the party on lots of social issues, budget, all that, but not when it comes to obamacare. so now, they're trying to expand that to independents. again, when you look at the poll numbers, independents not sold. very much in fact dissuade by the president's performance in the rollout of the websites. so he lost among independents. he is losing some among democrats. and that's where republicans see an opportunity. jon: i want to take a look at the numbers. we'll get those up here shortly but the department of health and human services back in september put out an estimate of wh

% to 7%. a five-year low. how much of a boost is this for president obama? >> in a way it's a huge boost. this is the third straight month of solid growth. growth across all sectors is great for the president. however, the debate we're watching now is whether unemployment benefits will continue. republicans immediately responded to that jobs report by saying hey, maybe we need to ease up on some of this federal health we've been giving to unemployed. democrats don't want to see that happen. they're ready to see this through before the end of the year when unemployment benefits would expire for about 1.3 million people. that would come around the holidays which would make it very difficult. i think that's what we're watching right now, how will this unemployment benefits package be extended. will it be attached to the larger budget deal they're working on even as we speak right now. and, of course, how will republicans respond? are there conservative republicans that would ultimately vote against that package because they believe we need to be a'sing up on these benefits. >> ed, as one of
